We received a wish from a foster mom named Shirley. Shirley stated the following:
I have a therapeutic foster care home. Currently in home are two children, a 14 year old female and a 10 year boy. This week I expect another child that will be a 3 year old boy. The FD14 was put into care because of severe physical abuse by her brother and his wife. They were her guardians after the death of her mother and no other family members where able to care for child. FD14 has been in this home for nearly a year after being bounced around. The next current child in home is the FS10. He is a gun shot victim. Child was shot while in a moving vehicle with his family members. He is currently recovering well here. Lastly, the 3yr boy is the FS10’s brother. Even though the 3 yr old was not at scene, he was also removed from parents (also not at scene) and placed in care, I was not given the reasonings. There are more children that are here very often but not full time, ages 10, 10, 9, 9, 3 and 3 months.
As you can see, Shirley is quite amazing and we wanted to honor her for Mother’s Day. So, we are turning her blasé backyard into an action-packed fun zone for her foster kids.
We bought the kids a trampoline and basketball hoop, a corn hole game set, 6 basketballs, 2 footballs and 2 hula hoops. Sheer awesomeness!
